Investigator site management is everything that happens between visits. A site does not only move forward on monitoring days: it moves forward when someone keeps in touch, follows up at the right time and unblocks points before they become problems. It is a hands-on role, in the spirit of Good Clinical Practice (ICH E6).

What site management covers

  • Regular check-ins with the team: recruitment, enrolment, difficulties encountered
  • Resolving queries and tracking corrective actions through to closure
  • Anticipating amendments, product shortages or logistical constraints
  • Connecting the site with the rest of the study (sponsor, data management, pharmacy)
  • Preparing upcoming visits so they are useful rather than redundant

Why continuity matters

A site left on its own between visits drifts quietly: queries pile up, recruitment stalls, deviations go unnoticed. A regular presence, even remote, keeps the momentum and avoids nasty surprises at the next visit.

How I work

I keep clear tracking of open actions per site, follow up without waiting for the next visit, and maintain smooth communication with the team. The goal: sites that stay active, up to date and free of lingering blockers.
